AS Nasinu Secondary School (NSS) pivot Ratu Isoa Dakuitoga finalises his preparations for this weekend’s Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League national finals against the Gospel High School (GSS) Saints, the Cakaudrove native did not expect to come this far in his first year playing high school rugby league.
Since the start of the 2026 Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League season, Dakuitoga has established himself as a rising star in the sport and a key figure in the NSS Panthers U15 team.
His ability to direct attacking plays, find space for his running forwards, and set up defensive structures highlights his growth and understanding of a sport he only recently took up.
His rapid rise underscores his passion for learning, his drive to improve, and his willingness to be coachable in one of the game’s most demanding positions.
In an exclusive interview with TimeSSports, the 15-year-old credits his coach for his unwavering belief in him and the mentorship that has helped him execute his role more effectively.
“Firstly, I want to thank the coach for teaching me all the calls, how to maintain my position in the game, how to kick, and how to best execute my role,” Dakuitoga said.
This Saturday, at the 4R Stadium in Ba, Dakuitoga will take to the field representing not only his school but also his family, who have supported him to perform his role well and help his team emerge victorious.
They will be proudly backing him from the stands at home or wherever they can watch him play.
