NEWLY appointed acting chief executive officer of the Fiji Rugby Union Koli Sewabu has confirmed that significant changes are on the horizon.

With a six-month tenure ahead of him, Sewabu aims to implement crucial adjustments within the organisation.

He acknowledged the ongoing transformations in the sevens format, as well as the global dynamics affecting both the men’s and women’s 15s teams.

Recognising the need for introspection, he emphasises the importance of analysing the current training programs and overall performance.

“A lot of changes is coming up, we all know that sevens is going through changes, we got the Men’s 15 and the women’s global game, and even our training program all those are looming in the background, we need to adjust and analyse,” said Sewabu.

The board has been diligently reviewing past operations to identify existing challenges, particularly in the high-performance sector.

“The board has been looked at the background for the past few months to try and identify the problems are, especially the high-performance space.”

A key focus for Sewabu is the women’s rugby program, especially with the Women’s Rugby World Cup approaching in just three months.

“I believe for us our huge focus is our women’s program, the women’s rugby World Cup is coming up in three months, and they need our full support and assistance, so that’s probable the most priority is to ensure that they get fully prepared before the World Cup.”

In the coming weeks and months, Sewabu plans to unveil various initiatives aimed at enhancing the organisation’s effectiveness.
