The Suva Cricket Association will hold a special annual general meeting this weekend as planning begins towards a stronger future.

Acting president Taione Cakacaka said after unexpected hinderances caused a slow last year, the association was looking to begin a new chapter.

“The association was heavily affected because of the COVID-19 pandemic and other financial difficulties late last year which slowed our progress,” Cakacaka said.

“We were fortunate to have Cricket Fiji stepping in to help guide the association.

Now we are ready for a new start.” Cakacaka said the special AGM would allow them to select new office bearers.

“We will be bringing all our managers from the respective club and rehold an election.”

Positions up for election include the president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer and six board members.

The meeting will be held on Saturday, March 13, at Albert Park at 5pm and will be facilitated by coordinator Sevuloni Baba.
