Fiji’s constitutional review process reaches a major milestone today when the Constitutional Review Commission (CRC) submits its final report to President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu.
The report marks the culmination of months of nationwide consultations, with the Commission travelling across the country to hear directly from Fijians about the Constitution and their vision for Fiji’s constitutional future.
Communities, villages, organisations, institutions and other stakeholders took part in the consultations, presenting their views, concerns, aspirations and recommendations.
The CRC’s submission will formally bring its extensive consultation process to an end and pave the way for the next stage of the constitutional review.
Attention will now shift to the Commission’s findings and recommendations, and how these will be considered as Fiji moves forward with the constitutional process.
The submission is expected to be a significant moment in what could become an important chapter in Fiji’s constitutional history.
