COVID-19: “Sheer laxity, no care attitude”

A TOTAL of 48 people were arrested on Wednesday during the curfew hours between 10pm and 5am, says Police Commissioner Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho.

He said Wednesday marked the third day since the enforcement of the nationwide curfew.

“We have found that the main reason behind the high number of arrests is due to sheer laxity and a no care attitude,” he said.

Brig-Gen Qiliho said those arrested attended social gatherings or kava sessions at friends or relatives places.

Others gave no reason why they lost track of time.

“As a warning to all those still deliberately breaching the curfew hours, we will get you, as our mobile patrols have been beefed up,” he said.

The police chief has urged members of the public to contact the National Command and Control Centre on 9905296 or their nearest divisional police command centre to report those who breach curfew hours.
