Fiji Police Acting Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu has reiterated his statement saying they would not hesitate to bring people into their custody if they continue to disregard restrictions put in place by the Ministry of Health.

“If we all play our part, we can fight this battle together and kill the virus,” ACP Tudravu said.

“As we continue with these efforts, we are also mindful of other policing operations so as to ensure everyone lives happily and safely in their respective communities.”

ACP Tudravu said there were aspects of their operations they could improve on but the reality was that they also needed the support of members of the public.

He urged everyone to be responsible and take ownership of their safety.

ACP Tudravu also acknowledged members of the public who had been providing information that had led to successful arrests.

“We are in a situation where it is imperative for everyone to support the whole of Government approach in tackling the pandemic and the need to be responsible cannot be stressed enough.”

He said despite efforts from majority of Fijians to assist the ongoing efforts, there were still a few who were deliberately going against the restrictions and had been caught on the wrong side of the law.
