COVID-19: Former TV personality charged; to front court today

A FORMER TV personality has been charged with one count of Malicious Act, contrary to Section 15 (a) of Public Order Act 1969 and will be produced at the Suva Magistrates Court today.

Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho said the 53-year-old is alleged to have spread false information on social media in relation to COVID-19.

Brig-Gen Qiliho said the self employed suspect who resides in Nausori allegedly uploaded a malicious and misleading post on his Facebook account about COVID- 19 that caused anxiety and alarm.
