COVID-19 awareness program for students

The Education Ministry has advised school heads and faculty that Year 12 examinations will be held from January 18 to January 28 and Year 13 exams will be held from January 17 to January 27.

And according to a circular from Education Ministry permanent secretary Dr Anjeela Jokhan, Year 12 and 13 students will undergo one week of psychosocial support and COVID-19 awareness when they return to school on November 1.

The memo also said students would go on a Christmas and New Year holiday from December 23 to January 3.

“All Years 12 and 13 students are to return to school on Monday, November 1, 2021,” Dr Jokhan said in the October 24 circular.

“School principals are advised that 1st – 5th November is to be used for psychosocial support and COVID-19 awareness for the students.

“School principals should ensure that normal teaching and learning begins from the 8th of November.”

She also said school principals had been told to ensure that all COVID-19 protocols were followed by everyone in school.

“Schools will break for Christmas Holidays from December 23, 2021, to January 3, 2022.

“Classes for Years 12 and 13 will resume from January 4, 2022.”
