THE Tavua football side has caused the first major upset at the Courts Inter District Championship defeating Rewa 2-nil in the first premier division match.
Boasting overseas based players, Rewa went into the match as hot favorites but were stunned by a structured Tavua side.
After waves of attack Vilive Naulalevu scored the first goal with a header in the 44th minute.
Tavua led 1-nil at the break.
The gold town boys started the second half just the way they finished the first as Hussaini Khan grabbed Tavua’s second goal in the 58th minute.
Rewa tried hard to make a comeback but Tavua stopper Jovilisi Borisi made sure he kept his score sheet clean.
Tavua plays Nadi tomorrow while Rewa battles Suva.
