Police have arrested a couple who allegedly presented a cheque worth more than $89,000 for the purchase of vehicle spare parts.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said they had received a report where a director of a vehicle spare parts company discovered the same cheque to be dishonoured.

She said earlier this month, the victim had received the cheque from a woman in her late 30s who wanted to buy vehicle parts, but it was later discovered to be dishonoured when deposited.

“A team of officers in the Southern Division were tasked with the investigations whereby they arrested the woman and her husband who are now being questioned at the Valelevu Police Station,” Ms Naisoro said.

“Investigators have also made recoveries from a vacant house in Nadi yesterday,” she added.

Investigations are now continuing.
