NADI Town Council’s acting CEO Muni Gopal Reddy says harsher fines will be imposed on vandals.
In an interview this week, Mr Reddy said they’ve seen graffiti and scribblings on newly-painted benches at the Nadi bus terminal.
“We have also started seeing scratch marks on the posts and so forth,” Mr Reddy said.
“We urge the public to be mindful of the work done, and to appreciate and not damage and vandalise council property.
“Likewise for the washrooms, we’ve already noticing a lot of vandalism and a lot of damage.”
Mr Reddy said if people see others in the act of vandalism and littering they must remind them not to do so.
“There will be penalties and harsher fines. And also, part of this project, which is the last phase we are going to do, is the installation of cameras so that will put everyone on tab as well.
“The second phase will start in September, so it will take another four or five months to have the whole project — the upgrade of the Nadi bus terminal — completed.”
