The Fiji Corrections Service has released pictures of contrabands being dropped off by unknown individuals in the prison compound.
The FCS said at Naboro this morning, a huge black plastic bag containing touch screen mobile, marijuana, mobile batteries, suki and white powder substance was confiscated during a routine sweep search.
FCS states it is committed to providing the humane treatment of offenders, but the propelling of illegal activity such as drug smuggling and infiltration of contrabands is counterproductive to its rehabilitation efforts.
“The influx of drugs has forced us to review our security protocols and one of the areas covered involves concealing contrabands with goods brought in during visitation,” said FCS.
“As result of this review, FCS decided to suspend the consumption of cooked food brought in by families and relatives of the prisoners during this festive season.”
