GORDON Jenkins has been re-elected by the delegates as the president of the Construction Industry Council for 2019.

Jenkins was re-elected at the council’s annual general meeting held at the Fiji National University’s (FNU) Samabula campus.

In addition to Mr Jenkins, Jon Orton was elected vice-president, Chandar Bala returns as treasurer as was Shane Harris as Council Member-at-Large.

However, a General Secretary to CIC has yet to be named.

Mr Jenkins told the delegates that a full program had been organised that includes workshops, seminars, and trade shows, with an especially strong focus on working with the strengthening the associations that were “the life blood of CIC.”

Delegates to the initial Construction Industry Council Annual General Meeting, held at the Fiji National University’s (FNU) Samabula campus recently, were told that:

In the past six months a “highly successful” 370 delegate CIC Conference was held at the Warwick;

A new office on the FNU campus at Samabula was officially opened;

Nine task groups were organized towards implementation of Conference resolutions – a major step forward towards addressing major industry concerns;

A first, Vijay Naidu appointed the new Chief Executive Officer for CIC;

Plans are underway for the next CIC Conference to be held mid-2019

Following the meeting, Mr. Naidu said that staffing the office and putting the operational systems in place would be a major part of his job as would work with the associations, but at the end of the day, he said, was raising funds to ensure a healthy future for this fledgling organization.
