THE Constitution Review Committee (CRC) has released a guide for the public to better understand and participate in the ongoing review of the 2013 Constitution.

The guide, titled “Our Constitution, Our Voice,” has been developed to explain in simple and clear language what a constitution is, why it is important, and how the review process will work.

Officiating the launch alongside Acting Attorney-General Siromi Turaga, CRC chair Sevuloni Valenitabua said the guide is intended to make the process more accessible to all Fijians.

Mr Valenitabua said the publication includes guiding questions to help individuals and groups prepare their submissions.

He said the commission would now move into the next phase of its work, engaging directly with communities across the country.

“We understand that communities communicate differently,” he said.

“Communities work at their own pace and in their own ways.

“Some people will want time to read, some to discuss and some to reflect with their families, with their friends, villages, faith groups and organisations.”

Mr Valenitabua said the consultation process would allow space for dialogue, careful thought and collective discussion.

He encouraged members of the public to actively participate by asking questions, sharing perspectives and contributing to the review.

“A constitution is strongest when it reflects the lived experiences and aspirations of the people it serves.”

The guide will be made widely accessible, with translated versions available in iTaukei, Hindi and Rotuman.

Printed copies will be distributed during public awareness programs, while an electronic version will be available on digital platforms, including the Fiji Government website and Facebook page.

“The guide would be free of charge to ensure equal access.

“Nationwide awareness programs, including face-to-face consultations, would begin next week, starting April 20.”

The commission is also preparing a simple template to assist the public in making submissions.

Submissions can be made via email (commissioners2026@gmail.com), hand delivery to Level 9, Suvavou House, Victoria Pde, Suva or through an online platform which will be launched when consultations begin.
