LOCAL artists will be part of a charity concert tomorrow at The Pearl Resort in Pacific Harbour to raise funds for fellow musician Jale Mareau who lost his home in a fire at Lepanoni settlement, Deuba, two months ago.

The 58-year-old grandfather now resides with his family in a corrugated iron shack a few metres from the remains of their home.

Vude Queen Laisa Vulakoro said they had stepped in to assist their fellow musician to rebuild his home.

“I am calling on the public to show their support on Friday as we try to assist one of our very own. I’ve been with him on several tours promoting Fiji through our music and now it’s time to help him,” Vulakoro said.

“The tickets are selling at $55 with unlimited food and music throughout the night.

“We are hoping to put out a good concert on Friday.”

She said the local artists would include Saimoni Vuatalevu, Seru Serevi, Sammy Stephens and Peni Kato.

Meanwhile, Mareau said the damage to his family property cost more than $40,000.

“Right now we are just trying to rebuild our lives with the remains and it has been hard for us over the past two months because that was our family home,” he said.

“I want to thank Laisa and all the other musicians for assisting us during this difficult time.”
