THERE is a strong need to reassess the size of existing health centres around the country, says Attorney-General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.
He said this was also required in the National Development Plan because population density had increased in some areas and dropped in others.
During a talanoa session with villagers of Naqali in Naitasiri on Friday, a staff nurse of Naqali health centre, Tavaita Suvirara, told Mr Sayed-Khaiyum that the area had a population of about 10,000.
She said the health centre was incapable of serving the given population because of its size.
Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said previous governments did not invest much in training and developing Fijian doctors into specialists.
He said this was something Government was investing in now.
