The chairperson of the Jittu Crime Prevention Committee in Raiwaqa, Suva, has reaffirmed their commitment to assisting the Fiji Police Force in reducing crime in their settlement.

Isikeli Rukua Qaqa made the pledge during an awareness drive conducted in the settlement earlier this week in partnership with the Fiji Police Force, Ministry of Health and the Department of Social Welfare and the Lands Department.

He commended the initiative, adding that most residents were concerned with the involvement of youths in illegal activities and were committed to working with stakeholders in reducing crime rate in the area.

The Deputy Divisional Police Commander Southern Acting Superintendent, Savenaca Vunisa, stressed the importance of reporting any criminal issues while at the same time pleading for more community intervention and engagements.

He urged residents to support the Jittu Crime Prevention Committee to help bring positive changes within their communities.
