THE Public Service Commission is now fully formed after the selection of the chairman and other members of the commission to be headed by Vishnu Mohan.
The commission will look into the appointment or removal of permanent secretaries with the approval of the Prime Minister.
The commission has the power to discipline permanent secretaries, may also make other appointments and perform other duties, functions and responsibilities as prescribed under the law.
However, its functions are limited as it does not extend to the office of a judge or an office that comes under the Judicial Services Commission, any office under any other body prescribed by written law, Office of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, Office of the Fiji Corrections Service and or of the Fiji Police.
The position of PSC chairman was last held by Josefa Seruilagilagi.
The function of the PSC is stipulated under section 126 (1) of the 2013 Constitution.
