THE first two days of the Fiji Finals have proven to be a headache for all Fiji Secondary Schools Athletics Association officials.

This was due to the quality of competition in the heats alone given the number of very close finishes that pushed the officials to do thorough verifications.

FSSAA secretary Osea Biu revealed this while giving an overall comment on how the Games are rolling after the first two days of intense competition.

“One of the things that we noticed yesterday was the number of heats, the number of quality heats to be specific,” he said.

“It made it really hard for the officials and the people working behind the scenes to keep up with the way things were in motion.”

He also pointed out how things have shifted from powerhouses bagging medals to other schools living up to the challenge and actually winning.

This he said could be credited to the current system the FSSAA has adopted.

“One of the things we now have and every school has access to is the data that we have. For the benefit of every athlete, what we do is we make known the results of all the zones in Fiji.

“Every school out there can see these data and they can prepare themselves accordingly so I think that is revolutionising the competition and I think very soon the advantage of being here will be something of the past, anyone that runs on grass can come here and win,” he added.

Colati said that unlike the first day of competition, things went as scheduled yesterday with very minimal hiccups.

The Coke Games will conclude today at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
