Civil service jobs

The start of 2016 shows civil service jobs were getting catered for more by expatriates.

The cost of living has risen and many now cannot even consider buying a house, especially in urban and suburban areas, and with the rental freeze on hand and rental rates getting astronomical.

Many, too, can no longer afford to maintain private vehicles, as the cost of driving becomes more exorbitant with the increase in LTA levies and duty charges, increased cost in spare parts, putting huge pressure on families and households.

The VAT levy on goods and services led to a price increase in basic food products.

At the same time, I believe salaries and remunerations remain low. I believe many will face layoffs as downsizing and rightsizing become the order of the day. I believe the job market is expected to be tight, especially with many fresh graduates flooding the market and seeking jobs.

What can we do? Where can we go? We are tightening our belts until there are no notches left. We are managing our expenses and finances with the little we have left.

I believe greener pastures are the only option now left.
