Civil Service Week has been a testament to the spirit of dedication, hard work, and unity that has defined the civil service.
These were the words of Minister of Youth and Sports Jese Saukuru while closing the civil service Week and opening the Exhibition Week at Lautoka’s Churchill Park on Friday.
“You are the nuts and bolts of the government machinery, ensuring that public service is of an excellent and acceptable standard,” Mr Saukuru said.
“The civil service is nothing without you in it. You make things happen. Your services, no matter how small, enable the Government to implement its mandate to govern the country and its people.
“Whether you’re a driver, a support staff, a policy director, or even a permanent secretary, your contribution carries a lot of weight in ensuring we perform our duties well.
“Government represents order and governance; through your contribution, you help us in government foster a progressive Fiji,” Mr Saukuru explained.
Mr Saukuru reflected on the profound impact of the work carried out by civil servants.
“Today’s exhibition is a showcase of the diverse and dynamic work carried out by our government ministries.
“It is a platform for us to highlight the achievements, initiatives, and services provided by the various departments.
“It is also an opportunity to engage with the public, to educate and inform them about the vital work we do, and to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation of the civil service.”
