The Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre and the Indian High Commission organised a Christmas church service at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Suva last week where the Assistant Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection Sashi Kiran was invited to speak.

Ms Kiran thanked the organisers for the initiative, for bringing people together to celebrate Christmas and to celebrate the birth of Lord Jesus.

She said the birth of Jesus Christ is more than a Christian holiday or Christian festival.

“It is more than an occasion to decorate our houses,” she said.

“It is an opportunity to pause and give thanks for the love, hope and joy shown to the world by Lord Jesus.”
