China’s biggest trade exhibition ever launched anywhere in the Pacific region begins in Suva tomorrow as it drums up efforts to cement bilateral ties with Fiji.

The Trade Exhibition of the People’s Republic of China in Fiji 2024 — an initiative between Fiji’s Ministry of Trade and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) — is said to set a new record “for the largest exhibition organised by China in Fiji”, with indoor display area covering around 1000 square metres and the outdoor display area of around 600 square metres.

Thirty Chinese companies are taking part, among them China Mobile, China Railway Construction, Huawei, SHACMAN, Hytera, Great Wall Motors and Daqin Energy Storage.

“The Chinese companies participating in this exhibition are leading brands in their respective industries, showcasing the latest technological achievements and product applications in several cutting-edge fields, such as high-end manufacturing, smart technology and green energy,” CCPIT said in a statement.

“These high-quality products and technologies not only demonstrate China’s outstanding achievements in technological innovation and industrial upgrading, but also provide an important platform for Fiji and Pacific Island countries to learn about China’s advanced technologies and products.”

China also wants the exhibition to act as a bridge to foster economic and trade cooperation and technical exchanges with Fiji at higher levels.

“To ensure that exhibitors and guests can make full use of this opportunity to deepen exchanges and cooperation, the Trade Exhibition of the People’s Republic of China in Fiji 2024 has carefully organised a series of supporting activities.

“Among them, the highly anticipated opening ceremony and the China-Fiji Trade and Investment Forum will be held on the morning of November 21 at the Vodafone Arena. At that time, senior government officials from both countries, industry associations, representatives of exhibitors and buyers, as well as numerous media representatives will be invited to join this celebration.

“Additionally, carefully organised reception and other activities will provide participants with a relaxed and enjoyable opportunity for further exchanges and cooperation.”
