Chaudhry surrenders himself to police

Update: 3:46PM FIJI Labour Party leader Mahendra Chaudhry turned himself in to police in Suva this afternoon.

Mr Chaudhry went to Totogo Police Station shortly after 3pm after returning from the Western Division.

FLP member Anendra Prasad said Mr Chaudhry was contacted by police while he was in the west.

“He returned from the West and I accompanied him to the police station. He was not arrested,” he said.

Police are also expected to interview Mr Chaudhry regarding comments allegedly uttered at a panel discussion in Suva earlier this week.

Social Democratic Liberal Party (SODELPA) leader Sitiveni Rabuka, National Federation Party leader Professor Biman Prasad, trade unionist Attar Singh, former Cabinet Minister and academic Dr Tupeni Baba and a civil society organisation representative are being interviewed by police since yesterday on the alleged comments at the panel discussion.
