Charged and remanded, farmer accused of targeting Minister Lynda Tabuya online

A 31-year-old farmer from Nadera accused of insulting the modesty of Minister for Information Lynda Tabuya on social media has been remanded in custody.

Lui Bale Vuibereta appeared before Chief Magistrate Joshua Waqaivolavola at the Suva Magistrate’s Court this afternoon.

The accused has been charged with Causing Harm by Posting Electronic Communication under Section 24(a)(b)(c) of the Online Safety Act 2018.

He also faces a charge of Criminal Intimidation under Section 375(1)(b)(i)(ii)(iv) of the Crimes Act 2009.

A third charge is for Indecently Insulting or Annoying a Person under Section 213(1)(a) of the Crimes Act 2009.

The incident allegedly occurred on August 14,2025.

The case is adjourned to October 1.
