Defending Champions, the Vusu Raiders, are determined to retain their title in this year’s Vodafone Cup competition despite a setback in their opening match against the Nadera Panthers.
The team lost 15-10 at Buckhurst Park in Suva, but they are not letting this defeat dampen their spirits.
Team captain Eremasi Batibasaga expressed confidence in their preparation and clear goal of winning the championship.
He acknowledged the challenges of defending a title after 15 years but emphasised the team’s focus and readiness.
“Our preparation is different this year, more focused, and our main goal is clear and that is to win,” said Batibasaga.
“It’s not easy to defend titles especially after 15-years, but the boys are focused and ready.”
Despite the tough competition this year, the Raiders are determined to come back stronger.
The team manager, Sosiceni Nawaqaliva Tora, commended the players for their fighting spirit and commitment until the final whistle in the first match.
Tora sees the loss as a learning opportunity for the team to reflect, improve, and strategise better for upcoming matches.
The Raiders are calling on their supporters to rally behind them as they aim for a comeback in the competition on Saturday.
