THE fastest woman in the South Pacific, Toea Wisil, encouraged students of Adi Cakobau School in Sawani yesterday to keep on chasing their dreams until they succeed.
Wisil, of Papua Nerw Guinea is in the country to compete in the Oceania Athletics Championship in Suva next week.
She will visit St Joseph’s Secondary School today.
“I left school when I was 12 years old and I had to struggle in order to survive,” she told the ACS students.
“I lost my parents at a very young age, so for me it was hard work and determination that made me the person I am today.”
She reminded the students to always make right decisions and to respect their parents.
“I set my dreams and I work towards them. In achieving your dreams, you have a good life and opportunity make use of it.
“Hanging around with the wrong crowd will lead you to a bad place and you won’t be able to focus on your goals.
“God has something planned for you. All you got to do is pray for it, put God first and He will command His blessings.”
She said she travelled the world and met a lot of people through sports because she worked hard.
“Don’t give up on you dreams. Work hard and sacrifice and you will achieve what you want. Always be positive and stay strong,” she said.
Wisil hopes to improve her time to 11:19 or 10:00 and qualify for the World Championship in London in August as she prepare for the Oceania Athletes Championships.
