Fiji Airports Ltd (FAL) has a new chief executive officer, almost one month after Fiji Airways was appointed to manage the entity.

Rowan Chalmers took on the new role on Monday and met with heads of departments at Fiji Airports.

“Fiji Airports’ corporate and operations managers and heads of departments welcomed Mr Rowan Chalmers,” stated a Fiji Airports tweet.

“He is not a stranger in the aviation industry and with more than 30 years of experience, we’re looking forward to taking Fiji Airports to another level of aviation excellence as we reset and focus on our recovery journey.”

Mr Chalmers has previously worked at Fiji Airways and was the executive general manager – Operations, Airports, Inflight Services and Freight between November 2016 to October 2018.

He has also worked as executive general manager – operations and customer experience at Perth Airport from February 2014 to July 2016.

Mr Isei Tudreu was the acting CEO of Fiji Airports since July 25 last year and questions sent to FAL on his future with the company on July 20 and July 21 remained unanswered.

“I’ll be referring your questions to our board chairman (Hasmukh Patel) for his response,” FAL media communications and public relations officer Moira Raduva had stated in an email response on July 20.
