THE Central Division has the largest share of Fiji’s registered voters, accounting for more than 43 per cent of the country’s total voter register.
This, according to a statement by the Fiji Elections Office which shows a national total of 723,771 registered voters as of June this year.
Supervisor of Elections, Ana Mataiciwa, said the updated figures provide the FEO with an important basis for its preparations for the upcoming General Election.
From the total registered voters, 362,438 are male, and 361,333 are female.
Ms Mataiciwa said the updated figures will guide the FEO’s preparations for the upcoming General Election, including its planning for polling operations and voter services.
The figures show a significant concentration of registered voters in Fiji’s two largest divisions, with the Central and Western divisions together accounting for more than four out of every five voters on the register.
The Central Division has 313,135 registered voters, representing approximately 43.3 per cent of the national total.
The Western Division follows with 270,175 voters, or approximately 37.3 per cent.
Combined, the two divisions have 583,310 registered voters, accounting for approximately 80.6 per cent of all registered voters.
The Northern Division has 102,304 registered voters, making up approximately 14.1 per cent of the national register.
This leaves less than 6 per cent of registered voters spread across the Eastern Division and overseas.
The Eastern Division has 25,266 voters, equivalent to approximately 3.5 per cent of the national total, while the 12,891 overseas voters make up the remaining 1.8 per cent of all registered voters.
