Fiji Rugby Union board member Cathy Wong has been voted as the president of FASANOC during its Annual General Assembly on Wednesday.
Wong secured the majority of votes in the first round, defeating Rajesh Singh of the Fiji National Rugby League and outgoing president Makarita Lenoa of karate.
Three vice president positions were also contested.
Ajay Ballu of archery was elected after seven rounds of voting along with Inoke Niubalavu of baseball and Lucy Erasito from the sport of swimming.
Petero Vatu was elected unopposed as vice president of finance and Prem Narayan was elected for a one-year term as an Independent Legal Representative, bringing her legal acumen to the organization.
The Assembly also appointed key roles to support the organization’s governance. Dr. Robin Mitchell and Vidhya Lakhan were elected as Trustees, both being life members of FASANOC, Munroe Leys as the Honorary Solicitor, and KPMG as the Honorary Auditor, ensuring robust oversight, guidance and management.
In her acceptance speech, Wong expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to lead FASANOC and outlined her plans to move the organization forward.
She emphasized the importance of improving relations with National Federations and fostering a collaborative environment to enhance Fiji’s sporting achievements on the global stage.
