The lsuzu 0-MAX and N Series were both honoured in an annual awards program organised by Trade Van Driver magazine in the United Kingdom.
The lsuzu 0-MAX, which is distributed by lsuzu UK, was selected as the Best Workhorse Pick-up for the fifth straight year. The judges praised the model as a hardworking and gutsy performer.
The Grafter 3.5-tonne truck, an N Series model distributed by lsuzu Truck (UK), extended its streak as the Best Builder’s Truck for the sixth consecutive year based on its robustness and ease of access.
The awards were presented during Commercial Vehicle Show 2017, which was held at the NEC event complex in Birmingham from April 25 to 27. During the show, lsuzu UK launched its 2017 D-MAX line-up featuring a brand-new 1.9-liter turbo diesel engine. It also exhibited nine new D-MAX 4×4 models at the lsuzu stand.
lsuzu Plaza Opens in Japan
Isuzu opened a promotional facility adjacent to the company’s plant in Fujisawa, Japan on April 11 to disseminate information about lsuzu commercial vehicles worldwide and strengthen ties with the local community. The opening of lsuzu Plaza coincides with lsuzu’s 80th anniversary, which dates back to the establishment of its predecessor, Tokyo
Automobile Industries Co., in 1937.
lsuzu president Masanori Katayama presided over the opening ceremony, which attracted an audience distinguished by members of parliament and the mayor of Fujisawa. He spoke about how the facility will support lsuzu’s contributions to society going forward.
lsuzu Plaza comprises a museum featuring the company’s history, production systems, etc., and a community space for holding workshop-type events organized by lsuzu and the local community.
Exhibits include one of Japan’s largest dioramas depicting commercial vehicles in daily life and a Wolseley CP truck manufactured in 1924 by Tokyo lshikawajima Shipbuilding & Engineering. That company, the predecessor of Tokyo Automobile Industries, initiated automobile-related activities in 1916, marking the de facto dawn of lsuzu’s history.
Prior to lsuzu Plaza’s opening, lsuzu organised a day preview in March for the local community, representatives from related cities and the media.
