DUAL Citizenship holders must not be allowed to stand in the 2026 General Election, says Salesh Kumar.
Mr Kumar was among participants at the Electoral Law Reform consultations at Nadele in Sabeto, Nadi on Tuesday. The issue popped up after Electoral Law Reform Commission chairman Daniel Fatiaki asked why Mr Kumar made the suggestion.
“If you stay here, then you can be a candidate,” Mr Kumar said.
Another participant Rangita Sharma agreed, saying those holding dual citizenships would not be familiar with the hardships faced by those in the community.
“For us, they don’t know what situations we have here,” she said.
“So, at least if he’s here, then he will know.”
