Call to do more

MINISTRY of Trade permanent secretary Shaheen Ali challenged business leaders attending this year’s Fiji Commerce and Employers Federation’s Top Executives Conference to use forums such as TOPEX to commit to nation-building.

During the opening of the conference at the Warwick Fiji Resort & Spa in Korolevu yesterday, Mr Ali called on business leaders to do more than just meet and discuss issues.

“I challenge you to do more. Apart from seeking answers on how you can benefit from Government policies, you also need to commit to nation-building and our Prime Minister’s call that no Fijian should be left behind — in the new Fiji,” he said.

FCEF CEO Nesbitt Hazelman welcomed the challenge from Government, however, he said events like TOPEX were more than just networking meetings.

Discussions at the two-day conference focussed on the theme “2015 and Beyond: Accelerating Economic Growth”.
