HEALTH and safety concerns must be tailored to specific organisations, says Australian Institute of Health and Safety Board chairperson Celia Antonovsky.

Ms Antonovsky told the Fiji OHS Conference at the Crowne Plaza Nadi Bay Resort last week that what works in one setting may not specifically translate into another.

“This is why regional dialogue, such as this one, taking place here is critical,”she said.

“It allows for the sharing of experiences, adaptation of best practices and development of solutions that are locally relevant.”

Ms Antonovsky said the journey towards psychosocial and physical safety in workplaces is ongoing.

“It requires commitment, collaboration, and willingness to challenge long-held assumptions about workplace safety and wellbeing.

“Conferences such as this one play a vital role in that journey, they create a space for dialogue, for learning and for collective action.”

Moving forward, Ms Antonovsky issued a reminder that people are one of the core factors behind every policy, framework and strategy are people.

“Individuals who deserve to work in environments that are not only supporting their productivity but their dignity and their wellbeing.”
