THE Government has reaffirmed its commitment to policies and partnerships that support sustainable economic growth, business resilience and a productive workforce.
In his New Year’s message, the Minister for Employment, Productivity and Workplace Relations, Agni Deo Singh, urged employers to continue collaborating with stakeholders, saying such cooperation is essential to building stable and inclusive labour markets.
“To our workers, both at home and abroad, strong work ethics remain vital to workplace productivity, safety and long-term success,” Mr Singh said.
“Commitment, accountability and respect in the workplace are key to strengthening our economy and maintaining Fiji’s reputation as a reliable and skilled workforce.”
As the country moves into 2026, Mr Singh called on all parties to work together in a spirit of collaboration, mutual respect and shared responsibility.
“Through ongoing cooperation and open dialogue, we can strengthen workplace relations, enhance productivity and ensure inclusive growth that benefits everyone.”
He also extended his best wishes to short-term and long-term workers participating in labour mobility programs in Australia and New Zealand, as well as to their families.
“The purpose of your engagement under these programs is to achieve your goals for your families back home and to represent Fiji with pride and dignity.
“As you work abroad, you carry the responsibility of keeping the Fiji flag flying high through professionalism, discipline and strong work ethics.”
Mr Singh said the New Year presenta an opportunity to look ahead with renewed purpose and shared commitment.
“It is a time to strengthen collaboration that supports fair employment practices, improved productivity and sustainable economic growth for our nation.”
