Businesses declare support for annual convention

WITH the aim to strengthen partnerships the Women Entrepreneurs Business Council (WEBC) has invited women MPs to its 2nd Women Invigorating the Nation (WIN) Convention.

WEBC chairperson Eseta Nadakuitavuki said although they were disappointed at the decrease in the number of women MPs in Parliament this year they were hopeful for changes in future.

Ms Nadakuitavuki yesterday shared some of the outcomes from the first WIN Convention held last year and noted how important it was to implement them.

WEBC yesterday announced the sponsors for the convention and expressed its gratitude towards them for the support. Pacific Energy (SWP) Pte Ltd has been supporting the WIN Convention since it started last year. Its chief marketing officer Rajnesh Prasad said this year they were back to support the event with $2500 cash and eight packs of its Shell Helix Ultra lubricants which would be drawn during the convention as prizes for the participants.

Mr Prasad said the company highly believed in empowering women and that it was important to promote equal rights and as such, such events which empowered women and provided avenues to women to network and grow. Monica Chute of Value City (SP) Pte Ltd said they were pleased to support the first convention last year and the second one this year.

“As a company we have found that it has brought a lot of good to the women that needed it, especially the marginalised.

So this year we are happy to come on board again.”

Ms Chute said 75 per cent of the staff members in the company were female which was why Value City was a huge supporter of women empowerment. BSP’s head of marketing Nirdesh Singh said the reason they came on board as a sponsor was because they valued the involvement of women in their business.

Mr Singh said more than 50 per cent of their staff at BSP were women and shared that they planned to increase their representation at executive level as well.

“That value of promoting women in our organization comes from our headquarters in Papua New Guinea.” Mr Singh said the WIN Convention was an important event and they would continue to support it. The theme for this year’s event is Sustainable Solutions for Success. It will be held from March 24-25.
