THE $3 million upgrade of the Lautoka Bus Station is nearing its final stages, with officials confirming the project remains on schedule for completion this month.
The upgrade is a significant piece of infrastructure for the Sugar City, aimed at improving services for thousands of daily commuters.
Lautoka Board of Special Administrators chairperson Taitusi Rasoki remains confident in the current trajectory of the site works which is earmarked for completion this month.
Despite the scale of the $3m investment, the project is expected to meet its original targets without requiring further extensions.
Mr Rasoki said the construction progress has been smooth, and the project is set to be delivered within the parameters established at the outset of the works.
“The project will be completed before the end January, still within the agreed timeline,” he said.
Addressing concerns regarding the budget and project management, Mr Rasoki clarified the development has not faced any significant obstacle that would necessitate a request for more funding.
“There is no pushback as you anticipate so there’s no need for additional funding.”
Mr Rasoki stressed there has been no shift in the expected handover date, as the contractors are working according to the schedule.
“There’s no extended completion time because they’re still within the agreed timeline.
