THE new Nadi Bula Festival Trust representatives have a clear objective on improving the operation of the annual carnival and has committed to three major projects to benefit Nadi residents.

Trust president Leone Naivalu said there were loopholes in the past but the new members were committed to the smooth running of the festival and the organisation.

“I think that a lot of people have heard a lot of things but we have gone past that now,” he said.

“We have three main objectives that we will be concentrating on and the first being the upgrade and improvement of Nadi Hospital.

“A lot of people that have gone to the hospital will come back with the same negative comments so we’ve held discussions with the Nadi Hospital Visitors Board to try and work towards improving the hospital.”

He said the organisation intended to upgrade the Nadi Civic Centre and build a community centre.

“The Nadi Civic Centre which everybody in this town has at one point or another used or been to the auditorium and we are also trying to align it with Government’s vision for Nadi being declared a city by 2017.

“Our long-term project is having a community centre which will be a five-year project or more depending on the funds raised every year from the festival.”

The festival will be held next month with the theme ‘Festival for Unity and Diversity’.
