The Digicel Fiji Bula Boys aim to emerge as victors of Group A when they face Papua New Guinea in the FIFA World Cup 26™ Qualifiers this Thursday at the PNG Football Stadium in Port Moresby, PNG.

Midfielder Tevita Waranivalu has acknowledged the strength of the opponent and emphasised the side would field their best performance to secure themselves closer to imminent qualification.

Their duel with PNG and then New Caledonia on Sunday follows a 1-0 victory against the Solomon Islands in their first qualifier match, held on Fiji Day last month at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.

Waranivalu scored the winning goal for Fiji in that win from the penalty spot.

The Rewa mid-fielder is optimistic of the team’s chances in the remaining pool matches.

Fiji faces PNG at 4pm this Thursday.

The winner of the qualifier gets a direct ticket to the 2026 FIFA World Cup while the runner-up moves to the next stage of qualifiers.
