The Digicel Fiji Bula Boys are just one match away from booking a spot in the final of the Oceania Football Confederation Men’s Nations Cup, as they prepare to take on Vanuatu in the semi-final at 4pm today.
Head coach Rob Sherman says while they are looking forward to the match, they are expecting a tough encounter as they face the hosts in their home ground at the Freshwater Stadium in Port Vila.
“We just going to do our thing and that’s to play football and stick to our game plan.
“It’s also good to see a lot of Fiji community here and they will be coming in and support us,” Sherman said.
“Really looking forward for the game, it will be the toughest match so far.”
Bula Boys captain Roy Krishna, who is the top goal-scorer in this year’s tournament with four goals, is brimming with confidence and said that the boys can’t wait to get out and play in the semi-final game.
Fiji’s opponents playing in front of their passionate home crowd will be looking to overturn their disappointing 4-0 loss to New Zealand in the final group match last week and upset Fiji today.
The Fijian side has been receiving a lot of support from Fijian nationals staying in Port Vila. The side was treated to some flavours from home for dinner at the Masala Magic restaurant in downtown Port Vila and tucked into some Fiji-style chicken curry, dhal soup and rice on Tuesday evening.
