THE completion of the Sun Centre 2 in Legalega, Nadi is a testament of what can happen when people come together with a common purpose, said Sun Insurance Ltd board chairman Padam Lala.
While officiating at the opening of the building last week, Mr Lala commended the landowners for partnership with Sun insurance to turn the initiative into a reality.
The event also saw the handing over of the Sun Centre 2 keys to the PACIFIC Specialist Health (PSH) Care Hospitals.
“Thank you very much for allowing us to construct our building on your piece of land,” he said.
“We are gathered here not just to celebrate the completion of the building but the beginning of something much bigger.”
Mr Lala said the new centre would not only serve the people of Fiji but also visitors from afar, showing Fiji’s commitment to providing the best health care.
“Looking at this beautiful structure, I think back to where we started. Small, driven by the simple desire to help our community and protect our family.
“It’s been a long journey filled with challenges, but also with countless moments of joy.”
Mr Lala said two floors of the building will also be used to produce essential medicine.
“An important step worth making – medicine more affordable and accessible to all Fijians and to Pacific Islanders.”
PSH founder and chief executive officer Parvish Kumar said Nadi is becoming the hub of medicine in the pacific.
Mr Kumar added that he looked forward to more partnerships with Sun Insurance Ltd in the future.
Ratu Ponijese Lou, a representative of the Taukei Naua (Chief of Saunaka Village) commended the initiative.
“Many times, we travel overseas for medical treatment when we are ill but now these services are in our country,” he said.
“We are happy that a development which will bring much needed medical services to the iTaukei has been established on our land.”
