Fiji Airways has welcomed the Government’s support in the 2026-2027 National Budget, saying it will help the national airline maintain capacity, strengthen connectivity and support continued tourism growth despite global aviation challenges.
Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Paul Scurrah said the airline appreciated the Government’s ongoing partnership and commitment to the aviation sector.
“Fiji Airways is grateful for the support announced by the Fiji Government in the 2026–2027 National Budget and acknowledges the continued partnership between Government and the national airline in supporting Fiji’s economic growth and global connectivity.”
Scurrah said the support comes at a critical time as airlines worldwide continue to face high fuel costs, supply chain disruptions and increasing operating expenses.
“While the global aviation industry continues to navigate elevated fuel prices, supply chain pressures and rising operating costs, this support positions Fiji Airways strongly to continue growing and maintaining maximum seat capacity into Fiji at a time when many international airlines are scaling back services and reducing capacity.”
He said the Government recognised the importance of aviation and tourism to Fiji’s economy.
“The Government of Fiji understands the critical role tourism and aviation play in the national economy, and we acknowledge their leadership and confidence in supporting the industry’s continued momentum and long-term growth.”
Scurrah said demand for travel to Fiji remains strong, supported by the country’s reputation as a safe, family-friendly destination.
“Fiji Airways and Tourism Fiji are continuing to see strong global interest and booking demand, driven by Fiji’s reputation as a safe, family-friendly destination offering world-class hospitality and convenient access from key international markets.”
He said the Budget support would enable the airline to further strengthen its network and contribute to the country’s tourism industry.
“This support allows us to build on that momentum with confidence, further strengthen our network and continue driving tourism growth for Fiji now and into the future.”
Scurrah reaffirmed Fiji Airways’ commitment to supporting the wider economy through tourism, trade and employment.
“As Fiji’s national airline, Fiji Airways plays an important role in supporting tourism, trade, investment and employment across the country. The airline remains focused on operating responsibly, improving efficiency and continuing to deliver value for Fiji and all Fijians.”
