BUA Rugby Union has intensified its preparations ahead of a must-win Vanua Cup Championship second elimination clash against Taveuni at Wairiki Ground today.
Union manager Ramenatabe Tauvoli said the team had raised the intensity of its training this week as they chase their goal of earning promotion to Fiji rugby’s premier provincial competition.
“Our preparation has stepped up from where we were previously because we have set a clear target — to qualify for the Skipper Cup this year,” Tauvoli said.
The Bua side conducted an extensive review of its previous outing against Macuata and used the lessons from that match to fine-tune its preparations.
“Macuata has been competing in the Skipper Cup for many years, so after that game we identified our weaknesses. This week we have worked hard to improve those areas and ensure we are better prepared for Taveuni.”
Despite acknowledging the challenge awaiting his side on Taveuni soil, Tauvoli said the team remained fully focused on achieving its objective.
“For us in Bua, there is no looking back. We only move forward. If we fall once, we rise ten times stronger. We are united by one mission — qualifying for the Skipper Cup.”
The squad is made up largely of promising young players from villages throughout Bua, supported by a handful of experienced players who have taken on leadership roles within the team.
Bua will be aiming to keep their promotion dream alive when they face Taveuni at 2.30pm today at Wairiki Ground.
