Brothers in arms

THE Newcastle Knights rugby league team is pleased to announce brothers Daniel and Jacob Saifiti have agreed to extend their contracts with the club.

The Saifiti brothers, who are of Fijian descent, were born in Newcastle, New South Wales and moved to Central Coast at a young age.

The 20-year old twins, who both debuted in round 1 last season and remain eligible to play in the U20s competition, were signed until the end of season 2017. The Saifiti brothers have signed for an additional year, keeping them at the club until at least the end of the 2018 season.

Coach Nathan Brown said that Daniel and Jacob have been in Newcastle Knights system for some time now and they were delighted to secure them at the Club long term.

In 2016, they made their debut for Newcastle Knights against Gold Coast Titans, becoming the first twins in Australian Rugby League’s 108-year history to play together.

Their contract was extended on 12 May 2016 from end of 2017 to end of 2018.

Daniel Saifiti played for the Fiji Bati team in 2016 against Papua New Guinea in the Melanesian Cup, while Jacob represented Fiji in 2015.
