Publicly listed Communications Fiji Limited (CFL) has announced the live activation of a new transmission site at Nayavu in Ra, a major infrastructure move aimed at significantly strengthening radio coverage for rural and traveling communities.
The new site is designed to extend and strengthen access to CFL’s five radio stations, benefiting listeners across Nayavu, Matawailevu, parts of Ra, Dawasamu, Natovi, and Korovou, as well as parts of Naitasiri and Tailevu.
“The installation is part of CFL’s ongoing investment in strengthening its broadcast network and improving access to reliable radio services for communities outside Fiji’s major urban centres,” CFL chairperson William Parkinson said in their market announcement to the South Pacific Stock Exchange (SPX).
CFL general manager Charles Taylor said the investment reflected the company’s commitment to keeping communities connected.
“Radio remains an important source of information, entertainment and connection for communities across Fiji,” Taylor said.
“The investment in our Nayavu site is about strengthening that access and ensuring listeners travelling along and living in this corridor can receive CFL’s five radio services more reliably.”
He added the expansion further “reinforces our position as the media organisation with the biggest reach in Fiji”.
Listeners in those areas can tune in to the following frequencies: FM96 – 96.4FM; Radio Navtarang – 101.2FM; VITI FM – 92.4FM; Legend FM – 98.8FM; and RADIO Sargam – 103.6FM.
