New Boxing Commission of Fiji chairman Eroni Loganimoce says addressing outstanding administrative matters and securing the commission’s finances will be among his immediate priorities following his appointment.
Loganimoce was appointed by Minister for Youth and Sports Jese Saukuru to replace Adi Narayan, whose term as chairman ended on July 31.
Having previously served as a member of the commission, Loganimoce said his first task would be to ensure a smooth transition and establish a clear understanding of the commission’s existing programmes and assets.
“I was a former member, and there are immediate administrative matters that needs to be addressed. I think we need to talk with the former chair need to have that handover, get the programs that are there for the rest of the year with the properties and the sets that belong to BCF that needs to be handed over as well.”
Loganimoce said he would meet with the newly appointed board to determine responsibilities and make the most of the experience each member brings.
“Yeah, we will have a formal meeting with the rest of the board members.”
He said the commission would need a united approach to deliver its remaining programs for the year.
“I think the immediate challenge for us is to allocate the responsibilities to them.”
Loganimoce said he would rely on the collective strengths of the board rather than attempting to manage the commission alone.
“I cannot run alone the boxing commission. We need the full team and see that their strengths from the different backgrounds that they represent, we will try to capitalise on that, and see that we fulfill the remaining programs.”
With four programs still scheduled for the remainder of the year, Loganimoce said finances would need to be addressed before the commission could move forward.
