EXPECT a mouth-watering boxing battle tonight when Joseph Kwadjo takes on Savenaca Naliva in the Boxing Commission of Fiji light heavyweight title scheduled at Nadi’s Priunce Charles Park.
At the weigh-in yesterday Kwadjo weighed-in at 80.4kg while Naliva tipped the scales at 83kg.
Boxing Commission of Fiji has given the greenlight for the fight as both fighters agreed to fight on 83kg. Hosted by South Boxing Promotion, Kwadjo said he had been waiting for this moment and wanted to win for his fans.
“I like to thank God for this moment,” he said.
“My team have been working hard for this fight and it is going to be a good fight.
“I am ready to take the title my title and my team and supporters.” He said he expected a tough fight against the Sorokoba native.
“I want him to come and box and he is a good boxer and I know he will bring it tomorrow.
“He has the overseas exposure and I think it is going to be a good battle.” Naliva said he expected a tough fight against the experienced Kwadjo.
“He is a champion boxer and he will be hungry for a win,” he said.
“I respect him at the same time I will also prove my worth against him. “I have prepared well and I am looking forward to a tough bout.”
Naliva has won nine out of his 12 fights and six of his wins were by way of knockouts.
He lost two bouts and drew one.
As for Kwado he has wealth of experience having fought 35 fights since his debut in 2003.
He only fought in Fiji on six occasions with the rest of his fights in overseas.
South Pacific Boxing promotion Mohammed Shameen said this would be the fight of the season.
Meanwhile, the main supporting bout and the welter weight title contest between Rakuro Dauvavana and Ronald Naidu will also be a thriller.
A total of nine professional fights will be held featuring Fiji’s heavyweight champion Petero Qica, Abhay Chand, Jese Ravudi and Tomu Gaunavou.
