The Swire Shipping Fijian Drua have signed Nadroga centre Kavekini Boselawa as a Senior Development Player after his impressive performances in this year’s Skipper Cup.
Boselawa caught the attention of new Drua head coach Brad Mooar and club officials during Nadroga’s Round 1 match in Lautoka, earning an opportunity to take the next step in his rugby career.
The signing highlights the Drua’s commitment to creating pathways for talented local players to progress into Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific.
Boselawa, who hails from Naduri in Macuata and has maternal ties to Nadrala in Nadroga, is a relative newcomer to rugby. He played soccer throughout his school years before taking up rugby at the age of 19 while studying Land Surveying at Fiji National University.
He quickly established himself with Nadrala Rugby Club and Nadroga, developing a reputation as a strong and versatile back.
Boselawa said he was grateful for the opportunity and credited his father for influencing his rugby journey.
“My Tou has had the biggest influence on me, as a man and on my rugby journey,” he said.
Mooar said Boselawa immediately stood out when he watched him play in Lautoka and praised his physical ability and adaptability.
The 2026 Skipper Cup campaign now provides Boselawa with another chance to impress, with Nadroga facing Navosa at Lawaqa Park this Friday.
He will hope to use the opportunity to move closer to earning a place in the Drua’s main squad.
