TOUR guide training in an important component of Fiji’s tourism success, the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation said following a successful week-long tourism fest in Nadi last week.
In a statement, the ministry said its tour guide training program was an integral component of the tourism super week last week and reinforced Fiji’s commitment to strengthening its tourism workforce through skills development, policy alignment, and economic empowerment.
“Bringing together industry professionals, aspiring guides and policymakers, the training ensures that Fiji remains a premier global destination by equipping participants with internationally recognised certifications and best practices in legislative compliance,” the ministry stated.
“The tour guide training program is a direct implementation of the government’s tourism-driven policies, aligning with the national development plan and the national sustainable tourism framework.
“By reinforcing the Tourism Industry Act and Civil Aviation Regulations, the initiative guarantees service quality, safety, and environmental stewardship — key pillars of Fiji’s tourism strategy.”
“As Fiji continues its recovery from global economic disruptions, initiatives like this ensure that tourism remains a pillar of stability and growth, aligning with the government’s vision of an inclusive, sustainable, and prosperous Fiji,” Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Viliame Gavoka said.
The tour guide training program is part of a broader upskilling agenda, including hospitality certifications, digital tourism adaptation, and eco-tourism specialisation — all designed to future-proof the sector, the ministry stated.
