The body of former Fiji 7s representative, Josaia Wini Raisuqe, arrives at Nadi International Airport at 1:35pm today.

Minister for Youth and Sports Jese Saukuru will lead a government and sporting delegation to receive Raisuqe’s body, which includes members of the Fiji Airways Fijian 7s team and officials from the Fiji Rugby Union (FRU).

The late winger’s body will be transported to Suva, where preparations for his final farewell are underway.

FRU acting chief executive officer Koli Sewabu confirmed that a delegation from the Union will participate in the traditional reguregu tomorrow, followed by the funeral service on Friday.

Raisuqe, 30, tragically lost his life earlier this month in France following a fatal car crash. The accident occurred in the early hours of May 8 in France where he had been playing professional rugby.

Known for his powerful runs and fierce defence, Raisuqe rose to prominence in the Fiji 7s team before signing professional contracts in France, including stints with Stade Français and Nevers. His aggressive playing style and on-field passion earned him a loyal following both at home and abroad.

Raisuqe’s passing has triggered an outpouring of grief across the rugby world, with tributes flowing from former teammates, French clubs, and fans around the globe.
